Meet Amanda Sears, the Village of Gibsonburg’s new Village Administrator. I am happy to announce that Amanda has accepted our offer and will be joining our family soon. Please join us in welcoming her to the village!

Amanda brings a wealth of experience in municipal government, along with a strong commitment to community engagement and public service. A lifelong resident of the area, Amanda was raised in Sandusky County and is a proud graduate of Fremont Ross High School. She went on to attend Bowling Green State University, where she further developed her interest in public service and community leadership.

Amanda began her professional career with the City of Fremont, where she dedicated more than a decade to municipal service. She also spent time working on economic development with the Regional Growth Partnership before moving on to pursue her passion for strengthening communities as the current Village Administrator for Ada, Ohio.

Amanda is excited to return to her roots in Sandusky County and contribute to the area she has long called home. She is passionate about fostering economic growth, supporting local businesses, and enhancing the quality of life for residents. Her leadership, experience, and dedication position her well to guide Gibsonburg into the future while honoring its rich history.

Amanda is looking forward to learning the Gibsonburg way and working closely with residents, businesses, and community partners to continue moving the Village forward. Amanda will officially join the staff on June 15th and begin her journey with us. Please join us in welcoming her to Gibsonburg!

Omnifiber Construction

As detailed during Council Meetings, as a public utility, Omni Fiber is now doing a fiber install inside of the corporation limits. Their project involves both aerial (pole to pole) and underground boring. It’s a very similar project to what Frontier/Verizon has done.
Omni Fiber has indicated that they will place door hangers at residences a minimum of 48 hours in advance of aerial or underground drilling.
Please understand that as a public utility, they have permission to work in the right of way and utility easements. They should seek you permission prior to coming onto private property.

At their request, please attempt to make contact with them first for any issues before calling Town Hall so that they can establish a specific complaint file.

We fully understand the inconveniences and disruptions caused by the Frontier/Verizon Project and then Omni Fiber coming in right after them (*full disclosure, we tried to hold off Omni Fiber for awhile to give the community some breathing room between projects, but we were sent multiple letters of “Notice of Intent to Sue” from Omni Fiber as they are a “public utility” and the “Village of Gibsonburg was not treating them fairly and impeding their ability to function as a public utility”*). Please keep in mind:
1. Omni Fiber should not be working on your private property without your consent to do so (The are permitted in any utility easements and in the boulevards) and they should not have any equipment on your property without your consent. If they are on your property and you did not give them permission to be on your property, you have the right to demand that they get off of your property.
2. Property damage issues caused by their project are their responsibility to make right in a timely manner.
While we are doing our absolute best to document and submit all issues that are called into Town Hall, Omni Fiber has requested that residents also contact them directly at 855-382-0129 or submit the issue through http://omnifiber.com/construction

Gibsonburg Homecoming 2026

We’ve noticed your excitement about homecoming and wanted to address a few rumors we have heard. Yes, it is true that we will not have mechanical rides for this year’s festival, but our committee has worked very hard to provide an entertaining week for everyone! New for 2026, we will be partnering with Reel Time Events to host a community movie night on Wednesday of homecoming, followed by inflatables, mini golf, and laser tag on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday provided by Hero’s Party Experience! (who have also provided inflatables for the Lucas County Fair and Toledo Mudhens)
We understand that change can be hard, but we hope that this year’s homecoming will be one for the books! Our competitions, parade, and other events will go on as usual. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for more information on our 2026 Gibsonburg Homecoming Festival!
